"Performers ripple like ocean waves, shake like earthquake zones and spin like corkscrews…The performers, from a wide variety of cultures and communities, have come together to create something positive. There’s real human drama onstage!”
Los Angeles Time
"This troupe doesn’t just think it can dance, they really can!"

In 1997, in an effort to build community in their new home of Los Angeles, Groovaloos founder Bradley Rapier and his wife Joanie started informal get-togethers on the rooftop of their Hollywood apartment.
With music, food and plenty of dance, these 'Groove Night' gatherings brought in a mix of some of the best up-and-coming talent with legends of street dance culture. Bradley’s desire to bring different styles together, build relationships and share vision of what could be done as a collective caught fire.
Groove Night quickly outgrew the rooftop and became a twenty year movement that helped launch countless artists, choreographers and iconic dance groups.
Within that movement, the Groovaloos
were formed!

They blasted onto the dance scene with a groundbreaking finale performance at National Dance Day hosted by Debbie Allen, followed by taking 1st place at the American Street Dance Championship that same year.

"The Groovaloos take street dancing to a whole different level…
They are everything that our country is about!"
Marguerite Derricks
renowned Emmy award-winning choreographer

As momentum grew, Bradley noticed that there
was a gap between the excitement for the dance, and a connection to the heart behind it.
The Groovaloos
began filling that gap.
Against all odd they created an Off-Broadway stage show based on their true-to-life experiences.
"GROOVALOO has the power
to leave an audience slack-jawed and utterly blown away…I’m still not sure I believe what I saw…"
Los Angeles Daily News
"The Cirque du Soleil
of the Street!"
"To define music with movement.
A universal language
where the spirit paints the air.
Like a brush upon the canvas of imagination!"

Word spread and Bradley got a call
from So You Think You Can Dance.
They needed a special guest for their season finale. That performance changed the landscape. The Groovaloos infectious celebration of freestyle dance, combined with their unique approach to storytelling and bringing street styles together had a rippling affect on the culture.
The Groovaloos exploded on all mediums from TV to live theater with featured performances on; Dancing with the Stars, Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen Show, the Wayne Brady Show and a return performance on So You Think You Can Dance.

A highlight for the company was when the Groovaloos were chosen to represent the United States on NBC’s Superstars of Dance...
an Olympic-scale international competition series with eight countries vying for the world title. The premiere of Superstars was described as one the greatest spectacles of dance performance ever seen on television. The Groovaloos and team USA brought home the grand championship in front of millions of viewers.
Whether launching campaigns for McDonalds and Subway,
or performing industrials for Skechers, Nike, or Adidas...
the Groovaloos extensive commercial success is matched by the integrity and respect they have for the art form they represent. Members of the Groovaloos have risen through the years as key creatives in the industry with an endless list of credits performing and choreographing for artists, TV shows, and A-list artists. It doesn’t matter if they are performing for millions on television, thousands on stage, or interacting and mentoring one on one at assemblies and rallies, that same energy that brought them together leads the way.

Today the Groovaloos mix their expansive crew of legends with vibrant new talent as they continue to share the endless creativity, joy, and strength of hip hop dance culture and the powerful spirit behind the art form. The Groovaloos are not a formula, they’re a heartbeat. A vibrant catalyst designed to stir something deep within.
Bradley’s initial focus was on sharing the experience he was having with dance culture. Then came his desire to share the stories and heart behind the dance.
Now, Bradley invites everyone into The Circle and leads them into a connection with the GROOVE.
The Groovaloos continue to play a crucial role in bringing this vision to life!
