WEEK 21
HOW'S YOUR POSTURE...?
When my mom was a young teenager she hated the fact that she was tall for her age. She was not only the tallest girl in class, she was also taller than a lot of the boys! She would hang her head, slouch down low around her friends, and do whatever she could to look shorter…that was until her mother noticed her poor posture.
The next day her mother came into her room with a large wooden brace. She proceeded to strap it to my mom’s back and tightened it until mom stood up straight. “No daughter of mine is going to slouch. Hold your head up high and walk tall!”, she said.
For one whole year my mom had to wear this clunky, heavy, somewhat painful brace under her shirt. Didn’t matter if it was the hottest summer day, that brace had to be worn. My mom hated that thing more than being tall.
Today, my mom is grateful for that brace. Grateful for her good posture AND how that posture affected how she has walked through life physically and mentally.
Every time we approach engagement we enter with a certain Posture.
Whether we know it or not we make a choice between carrying the posture of a Line or the CIRCLE. Between communication that operates through surface level transactions, versus communication fueled by relationship and discovery.

For Engagement - CHOOSE the Posture of a CIRCLE over a Line
The CIRCLE is that invitation to step towards who you were designed to be as a leader. To lean into the hard things rather than skim across the surface.
It’s an invitation to talk “with” others, invest in them and collaborate, rather than talking “to” others and moving on.
The Circle offers a posture to healthy, impactful engagement as it motivates us to step further toward the center.
